Electrical installation cable trencher Jan de Nul
Commissioned by Jan de Nul from Aalst, Belgium, MSA-Service was asked to realize the complete electrical installation of the offshore trencher 'Moonfish'. This cable trencher is specially designed by Jan de Nul for minimum ground pressure in hazardous areas, maximum digging depth and underwater use.
For this installation we were asked to engineer and produce the following components:
- control container for the remote control of the machine including PLC control, SCADA and visualization
- power container
- 3kv underwater power distribution/ motor and umbilical termination
- I/O subsea junctionbox, subsea cabling and instrumentation
The containers and underwater junction boxes have been thought out and drawn in 3D by our mechanical department.
The offshore trencher has already been successfully used to dig in 2 export cables for the Race Bank offshore wind farm project off the coast in England.
